Youth Seido Karate

If you visit Thousand Waves any afternoon around 4:15, you will find a diverse group of kids ages 3rd grade to 11 years old from many different schools working feverishly in the library to finish their homework before class.  By 4:35, they have meditated briefly to leave aside their work and worries from school, and are running, jumping, sweating and laughing their way through the famous karate obstacle course.

We present karate to youth as a body, mind, and spirit practice.  The vigorous exercise makes their bodies strong and flexible and gives them the stamina to lead an active, healthy life.  Karate affects their minds by building an ability to concentrate, and reinforcing moral values of respect, courage, and personal responsibility.  Non-quitting spirit is nurtured by our step-by-step skill-building curriculum and the reward of rank advancement offered at regular intervals to those who try hard, study, and persevere.

Beginner Classes for Youth

A minimum of 2 classes per week is recommended.

As a member, you are not locked into a set training schedule, and can vary which classes you come to from week to week.

Call us to schedule an appointment to take a free trial class to try it out.  You will be in a small group with other visitors and our newest members, and an instructor will take you through the basics and answer any questions about our center and its programs.  It is necessary for a parent or guardian to be present during the trial class.

Fees

We offer two monthly dues plans depending on how many classes you want to take. We also offer two methods of payment: auto-pay and non-auto-pay (details here). If you authorize us to draw your monthly dues automatically from a bank account or credit card, it's both more convenient, and discounted.

We have a scholarship fund for families that need financial aid in order to participate.

Membership

Joining entails making a two month commitment, and paying two months of fees up front.  In addition, you will need to get the Registration Packet ($85), which includes a uniform, Seido Karate patches, and a one-year membership in the World Seido Karate organization.
