Thousand Waves Martial Arts & Self Defense Center is committed to expanding access to all of our programs and to serving diverse communi- ties. In support of this goal, a scholarship fund financed by individual donations as well as fundraising events has been in place since 1990. Since that time, the fund has distributed over $100,000 in direct tuition assistance, both to individuals seeking to train at our Center and to non-profit community organizations, allowing them to sponsor trainings for staff or clients.

At the present time, the fund provides ongoing financial assistance to an average of 25-30 individuals and agencies each month, with grants totaling over $2000 each month.

Scholarships are available regardless of racial or ethnic background, age, sexual orientation, gender identity, or fitness level. All scholarships are based on financial need as stated by the applicant.
