Junior Black Belt Test
On October 6, 2012, our largest ever Junior Black Belt promotion test was held. Senpai Graham Burleigh was promoted to Junior Nidan. New Junior Shodan senpai are: Ana Gore, Ava Swan, Clara Laden-Guindon, Evan Burleigh, Gianna Trimarco, Hannah Rachlis, Jason Dulburg, John Rittereiser, Joseph Freidman and Owen Patterson. Here are some highlights from their test.

Senpai Graham was tested alone on bo handling, since he was testing for a higher level of junior black belt. |

Adult Black Belt Test
On Saturday October 13, 2012, four people tested for adult shodan. They are Senpais Annie Gregory, Becky Kidd, Debbie Edwards and Shelby Donahue.
The test began the previous Wednesday, with presentations on Martial Arts history. Senpai Shelby presented on Chinese martial arts. |

Punch & Kick-A-Thon
Punch & Kick-A-thon, the Juniors and Youth fundraising event held on November 10, 2012, raised over $39,000 to help the scholarship fund and anti-violence work of Thousand Waves.
Eighty-two youth students executed 1,000 punches and 1,000 kicks with great enthusiasm. |

ASK students worked out hard in the Punch & Kick-A-Thon, in addition to performing in a karate demonstration. | |

Plenty of volunteers were on hand to keep participants well-hydrated, and also to help them find parking. |
Tameshiwari workshop
Two workshops on Board-breaking were held on Saturday, December 1, 2012. In the first, a demonstration by experienced breakers, each participant attempted to break 10 boards within 30 seconds. In the second, the senior breakers helped the juniors build up their board-breaking repertoire.
